Yann Mingard (b. 1973, Switzerland) trained and worked originally as a horticulturist and began his career in photography after returning from a multi-year stay as humanitarian worker in Nicaragua through studying photography in Vevey, Switzerland. Between 2009 and 2014, Mingard documented the way we collect and store human and biological samples as well as electronic data. The result, called 'Deposit', recently appeared as a book with Steidl and as a touring solo exhibition at Fotomuseum Winterthur, Museum Folkwang Essen, Fotomuseum Antwerp, Gwin Zegal France, Krakow Festival Poland, Lianzhou festival China, Kunstverein Hannover Germany, FF Mannheim Germany. Mingard has also worked in a number of regions of Central Asia and has completed projects in the Tuva Republic and the Kazakhstan oil industry. He had his photography published in various magazines and newspapers, and his work has been exhibited throughout Europe and in the USA.
