Thibault Brunet (FR, 1982) is defined as a photographer of the virtual. His work plays with the codified genres in photography to question our relationship to virtuality in a society where reality as a whole is being digitalized. Shortly after graduating in 2008, he distinguished himself with outstanding series based on video games. For several years, he has travelled through virtual worlds looking for landcapes and faces (Landscapes, First person shooter, Vice City series) and architectures (Typologie du virtuel). Since 2016 with the partnership of Leica Geosystem, the series Territoires circonscrits, which virtualizes real landscapes, takes off.
Brunet graduated from the ENSBA Nîmes. From 2010, he distinguished himself with a series which plays with the codified genres in photography, drawing the attention of competitions: Finalist Aperture Prize, FOAM Talent 2013, Audience Award Sciences-Po for contemporary art, Art-Collector Prize at Jeune Création, Winner of Carte blanche PMU 2014, and Photo London Residency award 2016. Participating in ReGeneration2, Month Of Photography and European MOP (2010-13), his work was shown throughout the world. This year, he is featured in Mutations créations/Imprimer le monde exhibition at Centre Georges-Pompidou, and at the BNF afterward.
