Takeshi Shikama (b. 1948, Japan) completed his studies at Aoyamagakuin University in 1970 after which he pursued a career as a designer. Fascinated by the abstruse world of forests, Shikama found himself drawn to capture the invisible dimension, hidden behind what is visible at first sight. It has become Shikama’s life endeavor to capture the lingering atmosphere of forests. In 2012 he was invited to take part of Noorderlicht, and in 2013 he received the first Jon Schueler Scholarship Award. His work has been included in several important collections worldwide, including the Bibliotheque Nationale de France, Museum of Fine Arts Houston and San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
