Tahmineh Monzavi (b. 1988, Iran) specialises in documentary photography, starting at the young age of 17. Her fields of interest are social conflicts with a focus on marginalised people in Iran: drug addicts, the homeless, transgenders, and prostitutes. After having been sent to prison for her critical attitude towards the establishment, Monzavi is even more convinced of the need to focus on the situation of young women and dropouts in contemporary Iran.
Tahmineh Monzavi holds a BA degree from Azad Art & Architecture University of Tehran, and in 2011 she received the prestigious Sheed Award, an independent, non-profit, private photography award.
