As an art student at ENSA, Dijon (MA, with distinction, 2006) Sylvie Bonnot embarked on research trips with her camera. The terrains and urban itineraries in Australia, Japan, Ireland, Norway, Russia and the Haute-Savoie have informed her multi-faceted oeuvre, which has featured in group and solo exhibitions and entered museum collections in France and abroad. In Surimpressions – Quai des Arts, Cugnaux, 2016, curated by Hubert Besacier – her images were seen to jut out from the walls, coagulate as sculpture and rupture with lines as drawings reflecting her singular vision and techniques. Her latest project Contre-Courants, Musée des Ursulines, Mâcon, includes a monograph published by Nouvelles Éditions JMP, Paris, 2016. Sylvie Bonnot lives and works in Saint-Léger-sous-La-Bussière, and most recently travelled to Amsterdam to photograph for the show at The Merchant House.
