Serkan Taycan (1978) was born in Turkey. After his education in engineering at Yıldız Technical University in Istanbul, he went on to complete a master-class on documentary photography in Nordens Fotoskola, Sweden in 2004. His series “Homeland” was exhibited internationally. In 2010, he participated to Artist-in-residence program Association "Pour l'Instant" at Niort with the artistic advisory of Christian Caujolle. In 2011, he was commisioned for “Ex:change, Istanbul – Marseille” project, focusing on building awareness and visibility to the subject followed by book and exhibition. He continues his MA program at Sabanci University Visual Arts department. He is represented by Elipsis Gallery, Istanbul and by Sipa Press, Paris. He is a member of independent photographers collective, RecCollective. Serkan Taycan is also shortlisted for the FullArt Prize which is the first contemporary art award in Turkey. He currently lives and works in Istanbul.
