Schilte & Portielje

The Netherlands, Amsterdam Kahmann Gallery

Huub Schilte (1953) and Jacqueline Portielje (1958) constantly explore the boundaries between fantasy and reality; their images have a certain surreal quality. Their composed black and white creatures are inviting to the viewer, but at the same time have an intriguing sinister edge to them. This dichotomy makes Schilte & Portieltje’s work endlessly captivating.

Schilte & Portielje have merited many national and international exhibitions, including a recent solo exhibition at De Kunsthal Rotterdam, Museum Het Dolhuys Haarlem and Singer Museum, Laren.
