Marina Gadonneix (Paris, 1977) studied photography at the École Nationale Supérieure de la Photographie in Arles. Her work has appeared in solo shows and group exhibitions in France, as well as internationally. In 2006, she was awarded the Prix HSBC pour la Photographie. She lives and works in Paris.
Gadonneix‘s work creates a dialogue within spaces staged along the boundaries of the abstract, and makes interesting points of confluence between the history of photography as staging and the history of abstraction.
After the image is a body of work that shows studio installations made for the documentation of art works. The captions refer to the invisible, absent object, whose aura emanates through its surrounding construction and enables the viewer to recreate the situation before his inner eye does.
