With the help of a construction, a frame and a light source, Lonneke van de Palen (1985) creates, within the confines of her studio, a new reality wherein every inch is made by her. In the implementation this leads to compositions in which form, colour and lighting hold a deliberate connection to each other and have a strong graphic look. Experimentation is an important aspect of her work; Van der Palen often makes photographs into three-dimensional sculptures, approaching photography as if she were a sculptor.
Van der Palen studied photography and the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in The Hague, where she graduated in 2011. She has exhibited her work at GEM Den Haag, UNFAIR Amsterdam and at the Jan van Eyck Academy in Maastricht.
