Through photography, video, and installation, Cooley's work is a meditation on our evolving relationship nature. Working with elemental forces beyond his control, the artist addresses how these forces contend with each other, and how we exist among them. Personal experience, historical context, and direct intervention provide the underlying conceptual framework of his practice. Cooley's video work was recently featured in solo exhibitions at the, Catharine Clark Gallery, Disjecta Contemporary Art Center, Kopeikin Gallery, The Museum of Photographic Arts, The Nevada Museum of Art, Pierogi, Ryan / Lee Gallery, and The Yerba Buena Center for the Arts. Cooley's work is in prominent public collections including 21c Museum, The Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Nelson-Atkins Museum, and the Guggenheim Museum. He lives and works in Los Angeles.
