Kasia Klimpel (b. 1970, Poland) graduated cum laude in photography at the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague, in the Netherlands and completed a Master in Fine Art at HfGK Basel. She also holds an MA in English Studies and another in Psychology, both from the University of Warsaw, Poland.
In her series Still she toys with the viewer’s desire to identify images and ascribe meaning to them, as well as our idea of the perfect landscape – in a time when people post Google images of beaches on Twitter, instead of real, flawed photographs.
Her work has been shown at Camera Austria, Graz, Austria (2013), Fotomuseum Winterthur (2012), Kunsthalle Basel (2012), Kunstverein Freiburg (2011), among others. The artist lives and works in Amsterdam.
