Akiko Takizawa (b. 1971, Japan) completed her MA in Printmaking at the Royal College of Art in 2006. Her practice centres around the 150-year-old Collotype printing process, which originated in France. For the past few years she has worked closely with benrido in Kyoto, Japan, the last remaining Collotype company in the world, to produce her prints.
Her work was shortlisted for the Hitotsubo Award, and was awarded the University of Abertay Visual Arts Prize (2002), the Dundee Contemporary Arts Print Studio Residency Prize (2002) and the Prix HSBC pour la photographie (2014). Akiko Takizawa currently lives and works in London.
