In her work Güler Ates explores the relationship between the West and the veil. Drawn to its evocative character, she places veiled female figures in the Oude Kerk (Old Church) and delves into the representation of the veiled woman, often referencing European traditions as found in the work of the Dutch Old Masters such as Vermeer.
