W.M. Hunt, New York-based curator, dealer and collector of photography for more than forty years, spoke to our gallery contact, Sasha Stone. Here's what he had to say about the art of collecting photography and the Unseen photo fair…

His recent book, with the perfectly fitting name, The Unseen Eye: Photographs from the Unconscious (Aperture, 2010), is a compelling collection of photographs assembled around a particular, and unusual, theme: the absence of a direct look from the person in the photograph. The book presents photographs from Hunt’s personal collection, Collection Dancing Bear, previously exhibited at Foam in 2007 and includes works by masters such as Richard Avedon, Imogen Cunningham, and Robert Frank.
