The first few names of participating galleries at Unseen 2012 have been announced. In the weeks leading up to the fair we will be travelling around the world, from New York to Tokyo and everywhere in between, to highlight each of the participating galleries. Check out our ‘Gallery Overview’ to see a list of all participating galleries.

First, we head to Paris, France. In a spacious two story industrial building in the Marais is Galerie Les Filles du Calvaire. The gallery focuses on three streams: abstract painting, multidisciplinary work and fine-art photography. Since it’s opening in 1996, the gallery has had a strong focus on photography, as over half the artists they represent are photographers.

Galerie Les Filles du Calvairewill be representing the following photographers at Unseen: French photographer Laura Henno (1976) and French multidisciplinary artist Dorothée Smith (1985).

Currently on display at Galerie Les Filles du Calvaireis the exhibition Likelihood/Unlikelihood, the first solo exhibition in France of Anglo-American artist John Beech (1964). “Between Duchamp and Pop art, Beech delivers a ‘minimal trash’ version of abstract art,” says Christine Ollier in the press release. The exhibition is on display until 28 April.

Galerie Les Filles du Calvaire is located on 17 rue des Filles-du-Calvaire, 75003 Paris, and is open from Tuesday to Saturday from 11am to 6.30pm.
