The Amsterdam-based Galerie Diana Stigter represents a various number of artists, including Amie Dicke, Elspeth Diederix, Iris van Dongen, Irene Fortuyn, Helene Verhoeven.

At Unseen, the gallery will present work by Elspeth Diederix (1971). The artist is known for influencing reality to create subtly surreal images. She does not use digital manipulation, but intervenes in natural settings. Diederix' work sometimes has the appearance of documentary photography, but is always very carefully composed. Like a post-it note on a tree in a forest (Utah (post-it), 2001) or a cloud of plastic in the sky (Cloud, 2003), the human touch is always visible in her images in a subtle manner. These confusing settings evoke questions relating to the meaning and interpretation of images. Elspeth Diederix' photography plays with our perception through the use of optical illusion, strange proportions, transparency and lucidity.

Currently on show at Galerie Diana Stigter is a solo show by the Finnish Pilvi Takala, whose new video installation is in focus in Disappearing Act. In the backspace of the gallery visitors can enjoy a piece by the Mexican Antonio Vega Macotela. The exhibition can be visited until 13 October at Elandsstraat 90. The opening hours of the gallery are from Wednesday to Friday 10am to 6pm, and on Saturday 1pm to 6pm.
