The Dutch photography duo WassinkLundgren, a collaboration of  London-based Thijs Groot Wassink (1981) and Beijing-based Ruben Lundgren (1983), was asked to photograph collectors with a photograph from his/her personal collection. The series of portraits was featured in a mini-magazine of Unseen that was featured in the July issue of the international design magazine, Wallpaper* (read our interview with Wallpaper* magazine Editor-in-Chief, Tony Chambers). The first two collectors of the series were Anthony James Berowne (London) and Meg Maggio (Beijing), and today we feature Berlin-based collector Thomas A. Schneider.

The photograph Thomas A. Schneider shared with Unseen is a photograph by Dutch photographer Popel Coumou (1978), titled Untitled nr. 6 (2005). The work was purchased in August 2011 from Berlin-based gallery Aando Fine Art. Of the work, Schneider commented, "[It] has a very calm and quiet atmosphere combined with a high-level of colour aesthetics. I like the strong contrast between the dark, nearly black wall, the green floor and the shimmering velvet bed. The strange interior gives a typical impression of loneliness." Of the photographer, Schneider also commented, "2005/2007 were the strongest years for this young artist." This young artist was recently selected as a Foam Talent 2012 and therefore, will be featured in Foam Magazine # 32 / Talent and in a large billboard exhibition  in the surrounding Westerpark during Unseen. Coumou will also be represented by TORCH Gallery at Unseen Photo Fair.

The last collector of the series of collector portraits by photography duo WassinkLundgren will be posted next week. Want to know more about the photographers? We recently
interviewed the duo, who will be represented by Van Zoetendaal Collections at Unseen Photo Fair, about their collaboration, work process and thoughts on collecting photography. More tips, interviews and features about collecting photography can be found here.
