Weronika Gęsicka

Weronika Gęsicka (PL, 1984) is a photographer who also creates objects and artifacts, often in collaboration with craftsmen or other artists. She graduated from the graphics department of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. A winner of Foam Talent (2017), Spotlight Award (2017, Belfast Photo Festival) and LensCulture Emerging Talent Awards (2016), she received a scholarships from the Polish Minister of Culture and National Heritage in 2008. In her projects she addresses topics related to memory and the way it operates. Weronika Gęsicka is interested in scientific and pseudoscientific theories, mnemonics and various disorders concerning it. An important part of her art is working with archive materials of various sources. These are both image banks or images found on the internet and police archives, or old press photography.
