Vasantha Yogananthan was born in France in 1985. His first book, Piémanson, was nominated for MACK First Book Award 2014 and Kassel PhotoBook Festival. In 2015, Yogananthan received the IdeasTap/Magnum Photos Award for his ongoing project A Myth of Two Souls as well as the Prix Roger Pic (France). In 2016 he was awarded the Prix Levallois (France) and in 2017 he won the ICP Infinity Award Emerging Photographer of the Year (USA).
Deeply attached to analogue photography, he works with both large and medium-format cameras. His use of natural light and his colour palette is influenced by impressionism.
