The swift rise of Bastiaan Woudt (NL,1987) within the world of photography is a remarkable one, especially for a self-taught artist. He was named New Dutch Photography Talent in 2014, ‘one to watch’ by The British Journal of Photography in 2016 and won the Fentener van Vlissingen Art Foundation Award in the same year. Woudt approaches photography from a place of great reverence, while at the same time creating his own unique signature. A student of the history of photography, he experiments heavily with camera and production techniques. The end result are images that appeal to our collective conciousness, but are also on the edge of what we can consider as photographic.
