Awoiska van der Molen (b. 1972) is a Dutch artist who studied at the MFA Photography - St. Joost Academy Breda, the Netherlands. Her monochrome photographs are the result of long periods of time spend in solitude, in remote nature. Her analogue work is then completed in the dark room, where she produces large scale prints by hand. In 2016, she had her first major museum-based solo show in FOAM Amsterdam and was the winner of the Japanese Hariban Award in 2014. Van der Molen’s first publication ‘Sequester’ (2014) was nominated for the Paris Photo / Aperture First Book Prize. Her photographs are in prominent art collections including Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam and the Victoria & Albert Museum, UK.
