Ahmet Polat

The Netherlands, The Hague LhGWR

Ahmet Polat, recipient of the ICP award 2006, is a photographer born in 1978 in a small town in the south of Holland. Having a Dutch mother and Turkish father Polat's upbringing was the fusion of West and East. This bi-cultural position made Polat a questioner - never content to take what is at the surface -, he uses his work to document ways in which people seek their identity through daily ritual, traditions and interaction. His work has been exhibited at the Istanbul Modern, FOAM, DEPO Istanbul, the Rijks Museum as well as published in NY Times, French and Turkish Vogue, Paris Match, Vice, Quest, Rolling Stone , Volkskrant, NRC, Trouw, Elsevier and Kunstbeeld.
