Shoji Ueda
Shoji Ueda (27 March 1913 - 4 July 2000) was a renowned photographer of Tottori, Japan, who combined surrealist compositional elements with realistic depiction. His popularity was reflected in the numerous exhibitions in Japan and abroad, including his participation in "Japanese Photography" at the New York Museum of Modern Art in 1960. He started gaining remarkable critical recognition from the 1970s onwards. From 1975 until 1994, Ueda was a professor at Kyushu Sangyo University. To Unseen, the collaboration between Annet Gelink and Taka Ishii galleries will bring never-seen-before works by this acclaimed artist.
