In an inspiring series of videos, Unseen brings you a glimpse of collecting photography. Under the title 'A Collector's First Purchase', Unseen visits various collectors' homes to have a look at their emerging, or already extensive, collections.
In the fourth film, Amsterdam-based KLM steward and photography collector, Henri van der Tol, shares his passion for photography and his extensive photography collection. He shares how his collection has developed since his first purchase, a nude photograph by American fashion photographer Bruce Weber (1946). From nudes to portraits to landscapes to still lifes, his collection now consists of 1,000 images by more than 320 different photographers. A selection from his collection can be viewed online. "For me, the chase is most important," says van der Tol.
Watch the other videos in the series: James Wilkins, Aude de Prelle and Monica and Geoff Dawes. Keep an eye on the YouTube-channel of Unseen for more videos to follow.
